At work or home, I frequently rely on Gemini, which is the chat GPT version of Google. In my opinion, it’s quite effective. I primarily use it to do my research faster. When searching the internet for information, you often encounter a lot of results, but not all of them are useful or accurate. However, AI makes it easier by providing an organized selection of relevant information. Occasionally, I also use it to generate recipe ideas. I enjoy cooking dishes from various countries, and sometimes I struggle to find suitable recipes online. In such cases, I simply ask Gemini, and it offers me a range of recipes in French. In my work environment, I use AI to generate quick images freely and remove the background. I often work with photographs of food or objects for creating commercials, menus, or posters. However, there are instances when a picture is missing or has been changed, leaving me without the appropriate image. In such situations, if the image is simple, I end up using AI to generate it, providing a visual representation for the client while awaiting the actual photograph. Another scenario I encounter is when I have images, but the background hasn’t been removed by the person responsible for them. Given my limited time for retouching, I rely on the AI capabilities of Adobe to remove the background for me.

This is really helpful for me because as a student it helps me structure ideas, improve clarity and check grammar when working on some of my academics assignments. This is especially useful when writing in another language, in my case, English. It allows me to focus more on the content I'm writing or learning about rather than on the language accuracy. I also rely on AI when I need to search for something specific or topics for my courses assessments. These tools help me quickly identify relevant sources and explore different perspectives, which saves time and supports deeper learning. Additionally, I use AI features in my calendar app as it organizes my tasks in an optimum way, prioritizing deadlines and managing my schedule more effectively. At home, I usually ask the AI many things such as what to eat or how to do something.

It is extremely useful to be able to provide the AI with the information, the context of the email, and the way you want to approach it; for example, applying pressure or expressing dissatisfaction or anger. AI tools can frame emails very effectively in a simple way, and all that’s left is to add a personal touch. Another use is making the most of applications by being practically self-taught, using only AI, without the need to ask other people or consult sources that would take a significant amount of time. Asking the AI whether a specific application can perform a certain task in a simple way, and receiving an immediate answer, allows for huge time savings and therefore cost savings.

In the Project Coordination & Knowledge Management team, AI helps to structure ideas, improve communication and make processes more efficient. I regularly use the following tools: 1. ChatGPT (OpenAI): For the quick formulation of texts, the structuring of ideas and the preparation of workshops – for example, for role clarification in the PKWM team or OKR planning. 2. Microsoft Copilot 365: Built right into my daily work tools – helps me with emails, summaries, and post-meeting documentation. 3. Claude (Anthropic): Particularly appreciated for longer, context-rich tasks such as drafting invitation texts, protocols, or strategic analysis. 4. Academic AI: Indispensable in the university context for data protection-compliant AI use – an important tool within the framework of our cooperation in the Digital University Hub and with universities in Austria, which is operated by ACOmarket. 5. DeepL: My first tool for fast, accurate translations – whether for English invitation letters to researchers or out-of-office messages. 6. Canva: For visual communication, presentations, and social media content related to events and news. I use these tools consciously because they help me to work faster, develop ideas and improve communication – without sacrificing my own quality standards. . The key lies in reflective use: AI as a sparring partner, not as an autopilot. I also tried: Trello (AI support), Gemini, DALL-E 3, Synthesia, Gamma, GitHub Copilot, NotebookLM, Mistral, and Sora.
Yes, there were situations in which I made a conscious decision not to use an AI tool or to use it only to a very limited extent. Yes, I only use necessary cookies when visiting websites: the protection of my data was crucial for me. I wanted to remain transparent and not use every possible convenience feature at the expense of my privacy. This hesitation stems from a critical approach to digital technologies and the desire for control. Another example was the preparation of a thesis. In this case, I only used the AI for literature research and search. The thesis was created and formulated exclusively by me. Although AI could have helped with the writing, I decided against it. The reason was his own ambition, the requirements of the university and perhaps a portion of "caution". I wanted to make sure that my performance was clearly attributable to me and met scientific standards. In retrospect, this decision was the right one. The work process was more demanding, but also more instructive. I am proud of my achievement and the honestly deserved grade on the work. The deliberate hesitation towards AI has shown me that technology can be a valuable tool – but not every task should be handed over to it.
My work has heavily shifted towards the AI world recently, including workshops for non- technical people to motivate them to include automation tools powered by AI. The engineering team has a broad spectrum of usage, but most of them use AI agents daily for trivial or mechanical tasks. At home I don’t use it so often but I have definitely played a lot with self-hosted models, in order not to spend money on external providers.

What I like most is that it saves time and helps me look at things from different perspectives. At the same time, I think it’s important to use AI critically and not rely on it completely, because it should support human thinking, not replace it.
